أسعار البنزين في الإمارات: كيف تُحدَّد؟

How are petrol prices set in the UAE?

Since fuel prices were deregulated in August 2015, a Fuel Price Committee chaired by the Ministry of Energy reviews them once a month. The committee follows international oil markets - mainly Brent crude and the cost of refined products - and announces the new official prices in the last days of each month. They come into force on the 1st and stay fixed for the whole month.

Will petrol prices go up or down next month?

The forecast box at the top of this page tracks where prices are heading. Because pump prices follow Brent crude with roughly a one-month lag, the direction of oil markets during the current month is a good indicator of the next announcement. The final numbers are only confirmed when the committee publishes them at the end of the month.

Why do UAE petrol prices change every month?

Unlike most of its neighbours, the UAE does not fix fuel prices by subsidy - it links them to the global market. When Brent and refined product prices rise, pump prices usually follow the next month; when they fall, prices are cut. The pump price also reflects distribution costs and 5% VAT.

What is the difference between Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus 91?

The numbers are octane ratings. Special 95 is the standard petrol for most cars in the UAE. Super 98 suits high-compression and turbocharged engines - use it if your manual asks for it. E-Plus 91 is the budget option, suitable for many older engines, and diesel is used mainly by commercial vehicles. Check your fuel cap or manual before switching down a grade.

Are prices the same at ADNOC, ENOC and EPPCO?

Yes. The official monthly prices apply at every station across all seven emirates, so there is no point shopping around for cheaper fuel. Where you can save is on loyalty programmes and fuel-cashback credit cards - and by timing your fill-up around the monthly change.

Can I save by timing when I fill up?

Yes - it is the only timing game in the UAE. Prices only change on the 1st of each month. If the new prices have been announced and they are higher, fill your tank before the month ends; if they are lower, wait a day or two. The calculator above shows what that difference is worth for your tank.

How do UAE fuel prices compare with other Gulf countries?

The UAE usually sits at the higher end of the GCC because its prices follow the market, while several neighbours still subsidise fuel or hold prices fixed for long periods. By global standards, though, UAE petrol remains cheap - typically well below prices in Europe.

Is VAT included in the pump price?

Yes. The 5% VAT introduced in 2018 is already included in the official price per litre - what you see at the pump is what you pay.

What other driving costs should I budget for?

Fuel is only part of the bill. Add Salik tolls in Dubai (AED 4-6 per gate, depending on the time of day), parking, insurance, registration and maintenance - and the loan payment if the car is financed. The running-costs section of our car loan calculator puts all of these together into one monthly figure.

Where do these prices come from?

From the official monthly announcements of the UAE Fuel Price Committee, as published by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the fuel retailers (ADNOC, ENOC, EPPCO). This page is refreshed every month when the new prices are announced.

Final note

This page is for information only - prices are set by the Fuel Price Committee and can change with the market. If you are putting money aside for your next car, our fixed deposit calculator shows what those savings could earn while you wait, and the car loan calculator shows the real monthly cost once you buy.
